GROWING VISUAL ART ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Your success is our goal
As practicing visual artists and artsworkers, our team have had the hands on experience in growing our own businesses as well as assisting other artists and makers to build their careers and business models.
Makers' Shopfront grew out of the successful CQ Shopfront project delivered from 2019-2021 across seven local government regions in Central Queensland, working with more than 450 artists and makers.
Join us in growing a movement that shifts the way we think into a creative entrepreneurial mindset and opening the doors of opportunity that await us.
Founder, Facilitator and Mentor
My name is Shelley Pisani and I am so excited to be delivering Makers' Shopfront and working with inspiring artists and makers.
I have 26 years of experience in the arts industry from studio artist to gallery director, curator and consultant.
I have a Bachelor of Visual Arts and a Master of Arts and Entertainment Management as my academic background. This has led me to mentoring regional artists and leading industry skill development - something that gives me great joy asI see artists grow in confidence and build opportunities.
I am so grateful to have a career that allows me to be a practicing artist whilst supporting communities and other artists to reach their full potential through the arts.
Facilitator and Mentor
My name is Katie Whyte, and I am a practicing visual artist and an Associate Producer for Makers' Shopfront.
As an arts worker, I am passionate about research and producing workshops and events to promote strategic thinking amongst visual artists. I have a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Honours) from the University of Southern Queensland. I draw from my own experience as an artist to inspire others to utilize their resources and work together to explore collaboration and product potential in their arts practice.
As an artist I am most known for my experimental colours and forms, and large-scale brand collaborations with companies such as WeWork and Jericho Road Clothing. My work has also been commissioned by the First Coat Festival, Toowoomba Regional Council and the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers
