I am a ceramicist and a weaver, who grew up in Western Sydney and is based in regional Queensland. My practice is driven by strong connections with traditional materials, stories and customs. Over time, I have brought art making practice back to traditional Pacific techniques and patterns and re interpreting them into my ceramics and textile works.
My practice has become a method for reviving, documenting and sustaining traditional customs and techniques in the Pacific diaspora. Although traditional materials like pandanus wild hibiscus and coconut sennit are harder to come by I work with manufactured ribbon, silk flowers, and costume remnants.
